I’m excited to share our newly furnished deck, which now features two distinct seating areas. The deck was a major selling point when we bought the house, and we’ve filled it with cherished pieces we already owned alongside an antique favorite and new outdoor furniture from Serena & Lily. Below is the “before” photo from when the house was on the market:

The Furniture Design Plan
We appreciated the previous owners’ layout, which already suggested two zones: a casual lounge and a more formal seating area. We wanted to keep that separation but soften the look with classic white and rattan pieces. The goal was durable, family-friendly furniture that still feels refined—perfect for everyday life with kids while remaining a space I’m proud to show off.
Outdoor Furniture from Serena & Lily
Serena & Lily collaborated with me on this redesign. Their performance fabrics are durable and easy to live with, and their furniture matched the aesthetic I had in mind.
All specific product information and paint colors are mentioned throughout and summarized at the end of the post.

Tray | Flameless candles (battery-operated on a timer) | Blue planter | Wood ceiling fan | Blue stripe rug
Pacifica Sofa
For the lounge area we chose the Pacifica sofa in Dune (a warm rattan) with Perennials performance fabric in Chalk. Chalk reads as white but is slightly softened compared to a stark white. The fabric is heavy-duty and stain-resistant; at the end of the season we apply a fabric protector for added longevity.
Sundial Chairs

We added two upholstered Sundial swivel chairs in Chalk to soften the seating group. While swivels can feel fussy with children, they work well out on the deck where they’re less likely to be constantly turned around.
Boonville Coffee Table

A longtime favorite, the Boonville coffee table complements the new pieces nicely. A practical tip: the Boonville is hollow, so it’s a great spot to slide in accessories for storage. It’s an investment piece that will stand the test of time.
The Terrace Round Table & Pacifica Dining Chairs: Serena & Lily Outdoor Dining

For the dining area we repeated the rattan look with four Pacifica dining chairs in light Dune upholstered in a Performance fabric in Coastal Blue. The Terrace Round Dining Table is made of reconstituted stone—beautiful and durable, but porous like marble. It can absorb stains and will develop patina over time, so we use coasters and placemats to protect the surface.

This dining spot isn’t intended for full meals every night, but it’s ideal for morning coffee, wine with friends, or working outdoors. We purchased weatherproof covers for each new piece and will use them through the winter to protect the investment.
