Create a Stunning Vegetable Floral Centerpiece for Any Table

Aren’t you excited for spring? I’m looking forward to farmer’s markets, picnics, and beautiful blooms. I also love springtime parties and the lush centerpieces that go with them. I recently hosted a Peter Rabbit party and made this vegetable floral centerpiece for it. It’s a little unexpected, but using vegetables in a centerpiece feels perfectly on-theme for Peter Rabbit.

Here's a fun and unexpected way to welcome spring - with a vegetable floral centerpiece! Follow this tutorial to learn how to make your own. #PeterRabbitParty

I love using seasonal produce in a centerpiece to welcome spring. While flowers are wonderful, many vegetables have lovely shapes and colors that make them ideal for arrangements. Ready to make your own vegetable floral centerpiece? Let’s get started.

Vegetable Floral Centerpiece Materials

  • a clear bubble ball vase
  • wet floral foam
  • floral pins
  • tape
  • toothpicks or wooden skewers
  • carrots
  • lettuce
  • kale
  • various seasonal vegetables (I used radishes, peppers, asparagus, parsley, an artichoke and Brussels sprouts)
  • roses

Supplies laid out for a vegetable floral centerpiece

Step 1:

Soak the wet floral foam until fully saturated, then cut it to fit the opening of your vase so it will sit securely on top.

Step 2:

Use tape to create a grid across the vase opening. The grid helps hold taller vegetables in place and supports the arrangement.

Step 3:

Arrange the carrots inside the vase so their tops poke through the tape. If you prefer, fill the vase with water now to keep the carrots fresh; otherwise you can add water later depending on the vegetables you use.

Step 4:

Cover the vase opening with lettuce leaves to hide the foam and create a lush base. Place the trimmed floral foam on top of the lettuce, then tuck kale around the base of the foam for fullness and texture.

Step 5:

Begin inserting colorful vegetables—like radishes—into the foam to add pops of color. Use floral pins to secure any pieces that need extra support.

Step 6:

Continue filling in the foam with more vegetables. Attach items like peppers and Brussels sprouts with toothpicks or skewers as needed. Firmer items such as artichokes and asparagus can often be inserted directly into the foam.

Step 7:

Distribute roses evenly around the centerpiece to introduce floral contrasts and soften the vegetable textures.

Step 8:

Fill any remaining gaps with parsley, extra kale, or other leafy produce to give the arrangement a finished, abundant look. Your vegetable floral centerpiece is now ready to display.
