Peanut Butter Perfect Bars are creamy, peanutty, sweet, and satisfying. These copycat Perfect Bars are packed with protein and make a great afternoon snack or pre-workout boost.
Is there a snack in your house that everyone reaches for? At ours, it’s Peanut Butter Perfect Bars. They’re filling, high in protein and carbohydrates, and perfect for active days. Making them at home dramatically cuts the cost: based on my ingredients, a batch costs about $6.13, or roughly $0.50 per bar when you cut the batch into 12 servings.

I tested several recipes and adjusted ingredients and proportions until I arrived at a version my family prefers. The result is a high-protein snack bar that’s easy to make and reliably delicious. My partner swears they’re even better than the store-bought bars.
These peanut butter protein bars are extremely simple to make: mix, chill, and enjoy.

- Peanut Butter Perfect Bars Recipe
🥘 Ingredients Needed
- Creamy peanut butter (1 cup)
- Crunchy peanut butter (¼ cup)
- Raw honey (⅓ cup)
- Dry milk powder (¾ cup) – whole milk powder preferred for richness
- Powdered egg whites (½ cup)
- Kosher salt (¼ tsp)
- Refined coconut oil (3 tbsp) – use refined (flavorless) coconut oil for best results
🥣 How to Make It
Gather your ingredients and a mixing bowl. In a stand mixer or a large bowl with a hand mixer, combine the creamy peanut butter (1 cup), crunchy peanut butter (¼ cup), and raw honey (⅓ cup). The combination of creamy and a bit of crunchy peanut butter gives the bars a pleasant texture, but you can use all creamy peanut butter if you prefer a smoother bar.
Add the dry milk powder (¾ cup), powdered egg whites (½ cup), refined coconut oil (melted, 3 tbsp), and kosher salt (¼ tsp). Mix until everything is well combined. The mixture will become light, fluffy, and similar to whipped peanut butter. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing.

Press the batter into a silicone mini-loaf pan, a silicone muffin tray, or an oiled rectangular baking dish. If you don’t have silicone, grease a dish with refined coconut oil or line it with parchment paper and press the mixture evenly into the pan. Cover and freeze for 30–60 minutes to set.
After chilling, remove the bars from the pan and transfer them to an airtight container. Keep them refrigerated or frozen for longer storage.

🥫 Storage/Shelf Life/Reheating
Store the bars in the refrigerator for short-term use or in the freezer for longer storage. Frozen bars keep well for up to six months, though they rarely last that long in our house. Use reusable freezer-safe bags or airtight containers to protect flavor and texture. For on-the-go snacks, frozen bars will slowly defrost during the day and be ready to eat by lunchtime or mid-afternoon.
✏️ Helpful Tips
- Always use refined coconut oil for this recipe to avoid a coconut flavor; unrefined coconut oil has a strong coconut taste that can change the flavor of the bars.
- If your peanut butter is oily, stir it thoroughly before measuring to ensure consistent texture.
- If the batter seems too dry, add an extra ½ tablespoon of melted refined coconut oil and mix again.
- For those with peanut allergies, substitute sunflower seed butter or almond butter as needed.
- Freeze the bars for the best texture and to make them easy to portion and transport.
📖 Options
Optional Add-Ins
Add ¼–½ cup of mix-ins to vary flavor and texture: mini chocolate chips, semi-sweet chips, white chocolate chips, or shredded coconut are all great choices. Stir them in at the end before pressing the batter into the pan.
Refined vs. Unrefined Coconut Oil
Refined coconut oil is essentially flavorless and is ideal for cooking and baking when you don’t want a coconut taste. Unrefined (virgin) coconut oil retains a noticeable coconut flavor and works well for recipes where that taste is desired or for non-edible uses like skincare. For these protein bars, choose refined coconut oil to avoid altering the peanut butter flavor.
